Striped Bass Bonus Program Angler Logbook Now Online

January 24, 2008

Anglers participating in New Jersey's Striped Bass Bonus Program (SBBP) can now enter their voluntary angler logbook data online instead of mailing in paper logs. This will enable faster and easier data collection by the DEP’s Division of Fish and Wildlife biologists, and provide an easier and more efficient way for anglers to participate in this important program.

The online voluntary angler logbook is available only to anglers participating in the Striped Bass Bonus Program. Logbook data entered online will be received instantly by the Division of Fish and Wildlife, enabling staff to analyze catch data more quickly and accurately.

Participating anglers log into the logbook site using their lifetime 9-digit Conservation Identification Numbers (CID# - issued to each angler upon initial application to the SBBP or any other fishing or hunting license or permit) and date of birth. This ensures all catch statistics are available only to the angler and division staff.

Anglers participating in the SBBP are encouraged to complete their volunteer angler logbooks, as this is essential in helping the Division of Fish and Wildlife’s Bureau of Marine Fisheries characterize the striped bass recreational fishery. Participants in the program are also encouraged to utilize the online logbook system themselves, as it provides direct access to their personal catch records and allows them to view their logbook history.

Instructions for using the online angler logbook can be found at The page has a link to the actual logbook data entry site.

Striped Bass Season Information

In the Atlantic Ocean, up to three miles from shore, striped bass may be caught year round. Farther than three miles from shore, all waters are closed to striped bass fishing. In all other marine waters, the season runs from March 1 to Dec. 31.

In the Delaware River and its tributaries - from the Calhoun Street Bridge in Trenton to the Salem River - the season is open from March 1-31 and from June 1 to Dec. 31. The size limit remains at 28 inches or greater with a daily bag limit of two fish, or three if an angler is in possession of a valid Striped Bass Bonus Permit.
