New Jersey Wild Outdoor Expo FAQs
When is the Expo?
The 2012 Expo takes place RAIN or SHINE on September 15 and 16 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Where is the Expo held?
The Expo will be held at the Colliers Mills Wildlife Management Area in Jackson Township, Ocean County. Click for driving directions.
What does it cost to attend the Expo?
Admission to the Expo, parking, and most activities are FREE! There will be items for sale at the outdoor supply marketplace and from food vendors. There will be nominal fees of $3.00 to climb the Rock Climbing Wall and $3.00 for the Orienteering Treasure Hunt. (Online pre-registration for the Orienteering Treasure Hunts is required. Pre-registration begins in the spring 2011.)
What should I bring?
The Expo will be held rain or shine, so please plan accordingly. The event is entirely outdoors so wear comfortable clothing and sturdy walking shoes, preferably no sandals or flip-flops. Many of the activities and exhibits will be located underneath tents for protection from inclement weather.
Also consider bringing the following items:
Sunscreen and a hat
Bug spray
Poncho or raincoat in case of rain
Boots in case the fields are muddy
Camera to take pictures
Money to purchase food, drinks or products from the marketplace
Can I bring my dog or pet?
Please do not bring your dog or other pets. Only dogs participating in events and service dogs are permitted on the grounds.
Kayak for Beginners Workshop Information
If you plan to register at the event to participate in the "Kayaking for Beginners" workshops, please note the following:
Registration is required for this activity. Spots are limited and available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
These beginner level workshops will run for 2 hours.
Participants must be at least 12 years old.
Wear quick-drying, light clothing that you don't mind getting wet (avoid jeans, sweatshirts, etc.) or bring a change of clothes.
Bring an extra pair of shoes, preferably water shoes.
